Local GE factory wins $72.2M contract
Monday February 13, 12:05 pm ET

General Electric Co.'s local aircraft engines factory won a $72.2 million contract to make F/A-18 aircraft engine parts.

The Naval Inventory Control Point tapped General Electric/Aircraft Engines in Lynn, Mass., to provide 10 different F-404 engine parts through September 2007.

GE's local engine work has expanded in recent months. In December, the plant won three separate contract extensions or work orders: $49.2 million for engineering and logistics support for the F414 engine; $34 million for F414 engine components; and a $23.3 million contract upgrade to supply additional F/A-18 engine parts.

The company's $862.1 million in contracts through Nov. 30 of 2005 put General Electric/Aircraft Engines in the No. 3 slot on the Boston Business Journal's list of the Area's Largest Defense Contractors.
