Las Vegas tourist attractions and acquaducting may well evaporate more water than the amount that gets tainted flushing toilets.

Mqurice is right though, it all comes down to economics and in Vegas, isn't consumer economics given the lowest of priorities?

Maybe, a new distributed model of water treatment is required where flush water is treated locally within the subject water closet. The result could be used to feed tomatoes growing under florescent lighting. Such products could be marketed along with a backyard fuel cell, a little wind turbine on the chimney to power satellite communications and solar water heating and cells on the roof. Sure got enuff alternatives but non of them seem to be really economic.

Isn't it better to just send Lake Mead's water here:
