Bullshit. I've been banging this drum for over two decades. It didn't take a genius then, much less now, to see that as the second and third world increases their standard of living, we were going to hit a wall regardless of how big the reserves are.

And I haven't been the only one. But when OPEC fell apart and oil prices dropped, a lot of people pretended that it would always be that way.

The way out is clear. If we had only continued with the policies and the research that was in place in the early 1980's, we probably would be home free, with a pile of techologies we could be selling, to boot. But all we have is this stinking tee shirt and pouring money into a part of the world that has little stake in our well being. And, to add insult to injury, we have less of a plan to cope with it than we did 25 years ago.
