I liked "Open Range" so much I've seen it six times in the theater and probably 8 or 10 times on DVD.

Why am I not surprised. I have seen "Open Range" two times in the theater and three or four times on DVD. The second time I went with my 12-year old godson. The only nit I had with the movie is that I thought that the heavy emphasis on the Costner-Bening relationship was unnecessary. The last movie I saw twice in the theater was "Gladiator."

I am a big fan of both Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall. Given that I am nuts for baseball, I am particularly fond of "Bull Durham." I thought that Susan Sarandon's speech on the "Religion of Baseball" pretty much summed up my love of the game. I know two sisters who could have given that speech.

While I know that this is a minority opinion, I also liked "The Postman." I thought that the movie was vastly under-rated. The book was pretty good, too.

I found a disturbing vision from American Spirit. I have noticed that whenever he calls someone "bubba" or "buddy," what he really means is "asshole."

I spent a lot of time in the Alaskan wilderness, bubba. I've killed game and eaten it. Not with guns or even knives, but rocks, hooks and sticks. It's called survival training. I once spent three weeks at least 50 miles from the nearest outpost. All I had were powdered foods, a tiny stove and fishing lines. We got around in sea kayaks.

I spent time with bear, eagles, killer whales and all manner of small game. Salmon streams so thick you hardly needed a hook.
