My P Book is less than a year old, but must have the 17 inch screen.

My desktop is a dualie 2.7 G5 and less than six months old, so the need for me to get into the upgrade channel early on, isn't there.

I WILL upgrade as my current machines reach old age (about 18 months or so). And I think that will get me machines that are a few builds beyond the initial rollout.
