With international neophytes like Karen Hughes in charge of the finely nuanced game of embracing moderate Muslims while combatting the baddies, I have no expectation that the US image will improve in the Muslim world in this presidency. A curious fact - from what I saw on Condi Rice's resume, she has never lived overseas. Certainly Hughes hasn't been out of Texas and DC much. And these are the people shaping our public diplomacy campaign. The end result is so US-centric and generally clumsy that the rest of the world considers it laughable.
