ASND had a prior relationship with NTT which probably helped considerably. I think the Japanese companies are much more loyal than American companies. Also, product compatibility becomes an issue if you use several vendors. To say it another way, product compatibility is not an issue if you use the same vendor. So ASND had the advantage of a prior relationship and product compatiblity which is different than product superiority although that is also possible. In other words, there are many variables and only the principals know the real story.
