Thanks Riley, you would know.
And Garry, best to you and your family. Got a sick Mom right now and it can do wonders for priorities.
There is something that I've been thinking about lately, and with all the posts from certain individuals today it brings it to mind now:
It is a thing called Trust and Respect.
My Grandfather started his business back in 1931. The depression was on and it was tough to make enough to live on. He and Grandma plugged along and made the business grow and prosper. His philosophy was to treat the customer with fairness and honesty at all times, even if it meant losing a couple of sales. What he gained from this was trust and respect from all who knew him, since they could always be sure of a fair deal. My Dad took over the business after Grampa retired, and now I have the role of caring after things since dad retired. We do very little advertising, since most of our work comes from word-of-mouth. I constantly strive to retain that trust and respect that has been instilled in our family for at least three generations and wish to teach my kids the same values.
So what does this have to do with OVIS?
The point is that trust and respect is something that cannot be bought at any price; it has to be earned. There are people that are here on SI that have earned my respect, such as you Riley, Ellen, Typhoon, and even the gentleman who goes by the intials KMT. Yes, they sometimes say things that are not 'kosher' to some, yet all in all they are genuine and can be trusted and respected.
On the other hand, there are those who have earned great disrepect and cannot be trusted, and it doesn't take long to find out who they are. These ones have to go through life with real hatred for their fellow human beings, and I truly feel sorry for them. Life is too short to spend it tearing others down.
So to sum up my ramblings, if anyone is really interested in the true story on OVIS, spend a couple evenings reading through a few hundred posts. Take a few notes on some of the names posting, and you will get the general idea who should be trusted and respected.
And although it can't be said enough, thanks Riley for all your hard work and tremendous support to the cause!
Good Night
