An objective person would want to know why the deputy sheriff was turned away when he came to investigate the call. In my experience as a former law enforcement officer, I know of no reason that a law enforcement officer would not be allowed to investigate a shooting scene, accident or otherwise, until an involved party said it was OK to do so. A shooting incident is a shooting incident. If there were contributing factors, such as the possibility of alcohol for example, this would change the situation from an accident to a possible crime.
Is there any valid reason to prevent law enforcement from conducting an investigation in their own jurisdiction, other than being one of the power elite? I think not.

Also, this defense of "Trying to make sure that the attorney was getting medical attention" does not hold water. Certainly activating the EMS system (if appropriate medical attention was not on scene) would be the quickest way to accomplish this, but this would be accompanied by a call to local law enforcement as well due to the nature of the call. It is not as if things need to be accomplished one at a time, especially if you have all the resources of the V.P. at your finger tips.
If this was merely an accident, so be it. The objective prudent man should see that there is more to the story that is not being revealed.

For the record, I am not a card carrying Democrat or Republican.
