All Associated Press NewsFRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - The euro reached a six-month low against the U.S. dollar Tuesday after new information showed that American consumers spent freely in January because of warmer weather.

The 12-nation currency fell to US$1.1874 in afternoon trading in Europe, down from US$1.1909 the night before in New York. The euro was that low on Aug. 7, 2005, when it traded at the same level before ending the day at US$1.1968.
