I think about the Iraqi people often- it's one reason I was against the war (one of many). I thought the "win" scenario came at too high a risk (risk of making things worse, rather than better) for the Iraqi people for us to do it "for them". I also thought we wouldn't be "winning" anything either. I won't be sorry to be wrong on both counts but I think already I can see it's a loser as far as US interests are concerned- just contemplating the money we've poured into Iraq is enough to make me ill.
