Second, I have no idea why the local authorities agreed to wait until morning....you'd have to ask them. Apparently they did not consider it a serious enough matter to warrant a late night interview. That was their call.

I absolutely disagree. IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT THEIR CALL. I know from professional experience that law enforcement officials ALWAYS consider any type of incident involving the discharge of a firearm to be a serious incident. I will go so far as to say they are treated as a crime until the evidence suggests differently.

As far as the deputy being turned away, do you really think he is going to muscle his way into this scene when the Secret Service is denying access. The officer most likely has enough brains to know that if he forced the issue, he would likely be terminated or worse. Obviously, protocol was followed by the local law enforcement by sending the deputy, but the investigation was halted by the powers that be.
