Most of the people in the US live with a lot more risk than that- and yes, I'm fine with that level of risk for Cheney. I don't think our leaders ought to live like monarchs to begin with- so yes, I think he should have stayed and talked to the police immediately (and obeyed the law- because our leaders should obey the law), so they could have tested him for alcohol.
