Tolerating opinions based on conclusions is the key - I have mine and others have theirs, but I don't try to pin them to the wall because their assumptions don't agree with mine. I don't accuse people of supporting characters I don't like and lambast them for a lack of concern about American security and prosperity.

I don't take my assumptions and try to ram them down anyone's throat. They can read my views and move on.

My views will include a lot of skewering politicians in both parties, because I think the vast majority of them are self-serving lying bastards, much of which can be proved by comparing their rhetoric and actions to observable facts.

The folks who like to rock and roll and knock others around because their assumptions must be the unique truth will have a short lifespan here. The "tolerant and respectful partisans" play a valuable role I hadn't considered when I founded the thread.

If the thread gets whittled down to a phone-booth size collection of people who can behave, that is also fine with me.
