There has never been a reason to suspect Cheney of having a serious drinking problem, has there? (I am still not buying DUIs 40 years ago as a pattern) I understand some curiosity about it, but wonder why this seems to carry such import. Judgment, character...? All those same questions came into play with Clinton and the alleged rapes, and the questionable conduct of cheating on his wife with a young intern and then lying sbout it. Many Dems easily separated his ability to govern from his poor judgment about these things, saying they weren't related. I am uncertain why this is so different. I do think he was peculiarly stupid about not immediately coming forward and dealing with this, given how people now feel about this admin and its secrecy and perceived arrogance, but it seems to me that the laws and rules may actually not apply in quite the same way to a VP as they do to you and me- as you pointed out. Different protocols, etc. Anyway- I understand your rules and will stop objecting to partisan posts, no matter how awful they seem to me.
