Yes, every person who was terrorized by McCarthy was a victim, more or less. None of the people in the arts he persecuted were any danger to the state, on the contrary. The compser Aaron Copeland (what a conderful America) or the screewriter of Spartacus Dalton Trumbo. A great talent blacklisted by McCarthy. Pete Seeger, one of our great folksingers and a truly fine American.

McCarthyism wwas simply Bushie like rightwing extremists exploiting fears of the Cold War to persecute liberals. It
was criminal, a total abuse of power, evil and un-American. And shame on you for suppoprting it, you fascist. You're closer to a Nazi than a democracy-loving American.

Very few of McCarthy's targets were "communists" as far as being sympathetic to our enemies or anti-American. They were just people who believed in presonal liberties. Which is a truly American thing to do.

The only people McCarthy should have been after were people passing secrets to the Soviets. But he basically went after anyone who was liberal. Anyone. Starting with well-known figures in the arts. Many jews. Anyone involved in the union or worker's rights movements. Anyone who wanted to question the Cold War. Anyone.
