LLCF, I shoot a LOT of #8 for skeet, sporting clays, and a little trap. At 20 feet I'm fairly certain that Whittington would have been killed if Dicky had a bead on his head or chest. As you know, those pellets even with a full choke are very tight at 20 feet. 15-20 yards is when you start to bleed the pattern out, and past 30 yards sometimes the clays won't break unless you get contact in the pattern center. I miss tons of birds flying away from me in that range. Dead-Eye-Dick probably shot over Whittington's head at low flying bird at 20 plus yards. And that would also explain why most of the pellets were in the face and just a few in the chest. mossberg.com GT TH
