re: at least in Palestine.......there wouldn't this fight between Arabs and Jews.

I do recall that Hitler started with having nothing against Jews just as long they are not in germany. I personally think that you have a small point here. Germans and Austrians should have been kicked off their land and the freed land should have been given to Jews as a payment for suffering. Yet Germans and Austrians continue to occupy the land that belongs to Jews.

I am not clear what story you are now spinning about Austrians and Germans, but what I do know is that Palestine was mostly occupied by Arabs up until the late 19th century. Around 1898, Zionists met in Austria and decided to create a new homeland in Palestine. With money raised in Europe, they began buying out the Palestinians or buying land from the Turks and Brits. Slowly, the Palestinians were pushed off the land that they had farmed or ranched for hundreds of years.

If you don't think that would create resentment among the Arabs, then you don't understand human nature very well. In fact, everything about Palestine forced the Zionists to swim upstream. Sometimes, people need to not push but simply accept things the way they are. Of course, the Zionists weren't buying into any of that.

Any other bright ideas?

There is no bright idea acceptable to both sides that can stop the feud that exists between the Israelis and the Palestinians. I am hoping that if the Palestinians get statehood, they will be so focused on making their new state work that their focus will shift and there will be less trouble. That's the only thing the Israelis can hope for. If that doesn't happen, I suspect there will be a time when the Israelis will have to leave the ME again.
