saw the story in the NY Times about the reopening of Galatoire's New Orleans....you been over there yet?

Yes, I have been.

Perhaps it was a bad night, perhaps it was the post-Katrina syndrome we all suffer from, but the ease and bonhomie for which I love the place, while still there, was just a tad different. A bit of an edge, a bit of I don't know exactly what, was present in the atmosphere. Glances a bit more furtive, speech a bit shriller, laughter a bit more exaggerated, it's very hard to describe.

Perhaps I was having a bad night and not G's. Will be there again soon and will report.

Going to Arnaud's tonight for my float dinner. Now, there is a grande dame that took it on the chin. Went there last December, had the trout meuniere and the shrimp remoulade, both of which are its signature dishes, and can't say that they were very good at all.
