We also did not invade Mexico after Pearl Harbor.

Ahh... interesting comment... You're asserting that the Allies did not invade a neutral country in order to carry the war against the Nazis, but that's not true.

We invaded Vichy French territory in North Africa in order to squeeze the Afrika Korps. Vichy France had signed an armistice with Nazi Germany, leaving Southern France and its colonial territories unoccupied by German forces.

But the British killed 1,600 French sailors when they sank the French fleet out of fear it would be turned over to the Germans.

Vichy France, I reiterate, was a neutral country. And we invaded it in order to have viable bases to attack Italy and S. France.

Some people opine that part of the Iraqi equation was to overthrow Saddam in order to establish a long overdue democratic presence and "base" from which to create democratic change in the rest of the region. A step that is CRUCIAL to winning the ideological war against Al Qai'da.
