The 78 year-old man accidentally shot by Dick Cheney just gave a short little speech outside his hospital. He looks very well, and said everyone who goes hunting takes a risk, that he did so, that it was a very sad and tragic event for his family and for Cheney's. "Accidents do happen," he said. He was moved almost to tears and the whole thing was very moving.

Herewith, a warning to my friend Lawrence O'Donnell and others from someone who was in no way an apologist for the vice president this week: It's over now. You will genuinely damage yourselves if you keep going with the conspiracy theories and the slanders.
