The problem is that the actual proportion of people to the left of the political center in the world who HATE capitalism is small - the diehard Marxists and similar groups. Just like only a small fraction of "rightists" are actual fascists or authoritarians, nor do most "hate" the poor per se.

But it's easy to toss around charges that 1/2 the political spectrum hates something dear and integral to modern life if you want to demonize them in a simplistic melodramatic gesture. I find those caricatures comical and stupid.

But many people believe them quite literally.
