if profits were the direct result of leadership and vision, I would sleep better at night.

The bottom line of any company is the summation of the successful or failed execution of thousands of activities on a daily basis. Details, details. When leadership and vision consistently have a negative impact on the focus and the bottom line of a company,
it is time to question.

We are both right of course.
