To My Friend..
SALISBURY, William Graham "Bill"
William G. Salisbury of East Spokane passed away peaceably at home on February 7, 2006 after several months of declining health. He was 63. Bill was born in Seattle on January 4th, 1943 to Bert and Anne L. Salisbury. The family moved to Redmond in 1948 and Bill graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1961. He graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Geology in 1965 and pursued a career as a professional geologist for the past 40 years. Bill was cofounder of the firm Salisbury and Dietz and later, Salisbury and Associates, which is located on East Trent. The specialty geological services provided by his companies took him all over the western United States and world, ranging from Africa to the Southern Pacific islands. In addition to developing original designs for specialized geological equipment, his company enjoyed a reputation for being able to provide geological services, in the most difficult settings and circumstances. Bill took pride in the fact that NASA had sought out the advice of Salisbury and Associates regarding a drill design for the NASA Mars Lander project. He relished taking on the many challenges that each new job would present and had a fondness for the outdoors. His work often took him to the most remote areas of Alaska and he spent many summer months on various projects mostly living in primitive camps. It was in the small Southeast Alaskan village of Pelican that he met his beloved companion, Bonnie Breseman, over 20 years ago. Bill's fondness for Alaska and his Pelican family was evident in his many stories of his experiences there. He also enjoyed his many trips to the Hawaiian Islands, particularly Maui. Most of all, Bill will be remembered for his loyalty to and love for his friends and family. Beneath the rugged and determined exterior was a man with a caring and gentle soul. Bill often mentioned that he was not interested in living a particularly long life, but that his goal had always been to live a full life. He lived his life consistent with this theme with the result that his 63 years were packed full with experiences. Bill had known for some time that his condition was terminal and reflected that he had few regrets. He maintained a positive outlook during this period and appreciated visiting with friends and family. The entire family expresses deep gratitude to Bonnie for her dedication to making Bill's last months as comfortable as humanly possible for him. His survivors include Bonnie Breseman; sister, Judith (Salisbury) Gregg; sons, Nick and Jesse Salisbury of Coeur d'Alene; stepsons, Clint and Jeff Breseman of Juneau and New York City; and stepgrandson, Christopher Breseman of Juneau. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception commemorating his life on Saturday, February 18th, from 4pm until 7pm in the Flowerfield room at the Davenport Hotel.
