So evangelicals are nuts? Is that supposed to be news? You post articles pointing out the moral decline of America that uses evangelicals as an example. But what about the moral decline brought about through 24/7 propaganda by Hollywood? Dare I bring up Brokeback Mountain? This is a movie touted by just about everyone I meet as a "masterpiece". Well let's recap the plot. Two gay cowboys commit sodomy and then go off to marry unsuspecting girls who they then have children with. Meeting each other several years later, they go off to have an affair. Let's not point out that they are destroying their families' lives in the process. Is that really something to be admired? Yep, this country HAS reach rock-bottome. I agree.<?I>
I have not seen the movie but from everything I have read about it, it was not about condoning the behavior of the two cowboys but to point out the hypocrisy that goes on in this culture........a hypocrisy that is all too endemic to the Christian right who promotes the kind of thinking that encourages people to not be true to their true nature.
I think its telling that BB Mt. is your example of moral decay in this country. In fact, adultery is very commonplace among the predominate straight culture. These are people who were never forced to hide their true natures but many are still inclined to fool. Where is your outrage?
In addition, I bet you don't realize that almost every darn new TV series has at least 1 gay person in it, as if overnight the gay population went from less than 10% to something closer to 50%. Then there is the removal of the 10 Commandments from courtroom, the removal of "Under God" from the Pledge, and ACLU's attempt to erase all evidence that that our country ever started out as a refuge for Christians seeking freedom of religion. Sounds like s systematic campaign of censorship to me, all under the deception of Freedom of Religion. What a farce.
Here we go......your next target is the gay population. I don't watch tv very religiously but the new shows I have happened to see like Gray's Anatomy or The Boss, to my knowlege, there are no gay people on either one. However, let's assume you are marginally correct....so what? How does that hurt you?
As for your other complaints, how about we buy you some land in Africa so you all can set up a Christian theocracy. After all, this country was founded on the provision of a separation of church and state, and many of us don't want to change course in mid stream. Sorry. |
