Ted, But are you ready to present your case without prejudice?

At least I can respect your opinion, even if I vehemently disagree with it. Seems like some people can't even respect mine.

Unlike some others, you seem to be a reasonably intelligent adult. When you take the same stance as those others, even if somewhat diluted, its rather surprising/disturbing.

yet your response is some recovery is better than no recovery. Well that's true..... a moped is better than no wheels at all, but don't you prefer your beamer?

Of course I prefer something better than this, but as I've told you before, I believe it could have been worse, and that what Bush did was soften the blow.

Its not clear instituting tax cuts softened the blow. There is no definitive proof that trickle down economics works. The country was experiencing a stock market recession due to overspending in the tech sector. There were other parts of the economy that were doing well. In fact, the DOW rallied for the next year after the Naz cratered.

Hence, even if trickle done works, the level of tax cuts was an example of overkill. Unfortunately, the GOP promotes trickle down ad nausem to justify the tax cuts and presumably to placate its constituency.......but there has never been concrete evidence that it stimulates the economy out of a recession.

So what would you have done differently?

Lowered the Fed rate and moderately increased gov't spending. I think that's all it would have taken.
