<Actually, I believe that the idea of unfettered capitalism as being an 'efficient' and 'effective' allocator of resources has been bashed in the head and sent toppling to the ground.>

I don't think people say public assets, such as the air, ocean, rivers, parks and other things should be polluted by unfettered capitalism. Obviously there have to be fetters. But that doesn't mean we should have dopey government bureaucrats allocating resources. They ALWAYS do it badly. [Maybe something was luckily done well, but I can't think of an example].

But more than capitalism, it's free markets which do the good allocating. Capital just means rewarding those who make the good capital allocation decisions by them getting more capital to allocate. Which is as it should be. Those who make bad decisions lose their capital and have to get a job more in their ability range.

I don't think King George II is privatizing everything, or much of anything.

<Who wishes to live in a world dominated by violence, greed, self-absorption and venality? Who? >

That's easy. Anyone who doesn't vote for Libertarian politics. They might not think they favour those things, but ignorance of what they cause doesn't change the outcome. They get all those things.

Libertarians can't be self-absorbed or they won't sell anything to those they want to trade with. They have to have a well-developed idea of what other people want. Meaning empathy. They specifically are not violent unless defending themselves and their property. etc...
