I've yet to need glasses but I can that I need to take your warning seriously or at least start taking hourly breaks "for the eyes."

Once you toss in the towel and fess up to needing reading glasses for computers in general, then you can match the magnification to your resolution.

I got the 15.4 1600 x 1050. The type is very clear but definitely too small. I make up for it by using higher powered reading glasses for the laptop. So I get the screen space, the clear type, and I can read it without strain. It's win, win, win!
