Thanks Gottfried - will be interested in seeing how you make out over time.

I've got several setups now in different states and trying out FIOS, DSL and even Vz wireless aircard. With the amount of time I need to be online, I want to get it down to the point where I have no hold ups or interruptions because of Zone Alarm, etc. Remote computing also enables access to equipment 1000 miles away. I'm learning all this cool stuff. No matter what, the truism that your system is only as fast as the slowest part and I haven't noticed big differences between FIOS and DSL. However, proximity to CO may be a factor in different locations for DSL and not for FIOS. So apples/oranges comparisons in different locations.

Looking around now for a new batch of wireless routers and hadn't seen anything on the extended distance adapters which claim to extend and even speed up the connection. I should get a report soon from an associate who wants to cover a huge mansion and hasn't been able to do it in the past. But who has time for all this? LOL?
