VP candidates only have a minor impact on most presidential elections. The previous VP will have even less of an impact, probably close to nil. There might be a very small number of voters who will vote for the next Republican if Cheney is dropped and not if he is not dropped but it probably wouldn't exceed .1% in any state. Also I think there would be a similar small number of people who wouldn't vote for the next Republican if he was dropped. Both groups are likely going to be so small that it doesn't really matter if one is ten times as big as the other.
