Detroit itself is having troubles and will probably end up in bankruptcy this year (mayor is corrupt and city council is totally incompetent!) but the surrounding suburbs have some incredible high tech operations. It is not coincidence that Bush was down the street from me yesterday. A president speaks in the detroit suburbs almost every year. The suburbs still have a very high percentage of the engineers in this country, especially mechanical engineers.

Don't know why GM moved their headquarters downtown to the Ren Center. They must have gotten a fantastic deal.
