SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Robertson, Stephens & Company
research analyst Alexandra DalPan has initiated coverage of Polo Ralph Lauren
Corporation (RL) with a Long Term Attractive rating.
Since the first men's neckwear and sportswear assortments were launched
over 30 years ago, the Polo Ralph Lauren brand has extended into a broad
spectrum of apparel, accessories, fragrance and home furnishing lines. "We
view Ralph Lauren as a premier global lifestyle brand franchise with the
potential for long term market dominance," said DalPan. "Having pioneered the
concept of lifestyle merchandising and marketing, the company continues to
exhibit the innovation which maintains valuable mind share among consumers."
DalPan believes that continued expansion into new product categories and
new markets, coupled with more efficient operations, will further entrench the
company's competitive position. With higher rates of sell through and
improved operating efficiencies, she anticipates that EBIT margins will expand
to 13.5% in F1997 to at least 15.5% in F1998 and 16.5% in F1999, with at least
2025% average annual earnings growth over the next three years.
EPS estimates for Fl998 and Fl999 are $1.14 and $1.32, respectively.
"Given Ralph Lauren's global market dominant brand franchise, history of value
creation for shareholders, and renewed growth and profitability, this is an
attractive investment opportunity for long term oriented investors," DalPan
said.
