The company has acquired from Ocean Data Equipment the Canadian and Western
US distribution rights for a state-of-the-art bottom sounder. Ocean Data
Equipment is a major US hydrographic firm and the allocation of the
distribution rights to ESI will considerably enhance the company's marine
product line. ESI projects the market potential for distribution of marine
products in Canada and the US to be estimated at least US$400 million.
This bottom sounder product, the Bathy-500, is an electronic survey
instrument used to generate precise chart recordings and digital data
output. Unique in its features, with low power consumption, portability,
ease of use, rugged construction, and built-in communication interfaces for
navigation/data logging devices, make the Bathy-500 a valuable product for
any commercial vessel. In early October, ESI will attend Oceans '97 in
Halifax, a major oceanographic conference, at which it will market and
display the Bathy-500, as well as the company's full range of oceanographic
and environmental instrumentation products.
