Ted, as usual, good points, but I'll have to be brief:
By now, you must have noticed that lines at banks, supermarkets, etc are much longer in CA than they were in OR.
You must have lived in a very $h1tty part of California, because I haven't noticed any of that.
I regularly shopped and banked in S. Pasadena, Pasadena, Carlsbad and Laguna Niguel.......I saw little difference between those places in terms of the lines. Here...when there are more than 2-3 people in line, they call for additional cashiers.
It is very expensive doing business in CA....land costs, employee costs, insurance, etc are all astronomically high.
I trust you are already aware of the reasons behind this, but most of those reasons have one thing in common: they are anything but laissez-faire concepts.
I don't understand what you mean.......are you suggesting the free market is not in play in CA? |
