You can't really amend it, you just pick and choose what you agree with. It's not really one book... it's 63 books, and a lot of debates. Of course there's going to be shitty stuff in there. Over the last 2000 years, there have been thousands of books interpreting those 63 books. Except for among the ultra-Orthodox, Judaism is constantly changing. And even among the ultra-Orthodox, there are dozens of sects and they all interpret the texts differently.

For Emile to try to paint a large portion of Jews with the behavior of some ridiculously backwards isolated ultra-Orthodox sects is just insane.
