How many switchers are Intel Macs really going to attract? That famous "halo effect" still hasn't shown up in significance although it may have stemmed further losses of Mac sales.

I am wondering what "further losses" in Mac sales you are referring to. Mac sales have increased 5 quarters in a row. For the calendar year 2005 (FY2005Q2 throguh FY2006Q1) Mac sales were 4.67 million. The previous calendar year they were roughly 3.5 million. The calendar year before that they were just below 3.1 million. Seems to me that Mac sales are up 50 percent over two years, with the rate of increase going up. If current trends continue, Mac sales this year would be about 6 million units.

Mac Sales by Quarter:

FY2006Q1: 1,254,000
FY2005Q4: 1,236,000
FY2005Q3: 1,182,000
FY2005Q2: 1,076,000
FY2005Q1: 1,046,000
FY2004Q4: 836,000
FY2004Q3: 876,000
FY2004Q2: 749,000
FY2004Q1: 829,000
FY2003Q4: 787,000
FY2003Q3: 771,000
FY2003Q2: 711,000
FY2003Q1: 743,000
