I don't think it is matter of dealing with "those" people. Those people quite justifiable didn't appreciate being bombed and invaded and actually still don't. There are quite a few examples in history where the invader wasn't exactly made welcome and eventually got kicked out. The Romans and Brits experienced many such occasions while using similar terms.
