I don't think you could touch the cheapest house there for 1 million (Rancho Santa Fe.) I remember reading about the town as being one of the most expensive in the nation and I'd never heard of it. Since my daughter was working for the San Diego Union Tribune at the time as a community reporter she filled me in. This is very upper crust for California. We toured around a bit. It is hilly, somewhat rural feel to it. I'm not from there but I wouldn't call it a "family" neighborhood, I'd call it trust fund territory. Remember this is So Cal, where post WWII box 1200 sq foot dumps in my gang-banger work neighborhood go for over $400,000!
