Yes, I recently cashed out of my Oceanside gang-banger neighborhood! It was a few years ago, but there was an article in the SD Union Tribune about the cheapest house in Ranch Santa Fe listing for over a million. I'm sure by now, it's over two million, if not three. There are lots of more affordable "nice" neighborhoods and towns in SD county, including some parts of Oceanside, probably one of the cheaper coastal cities. My favorite town was Encinitas, but it's more an artsy, hip town than a family place - a great place for single people, lots of nightlife and things to do.
