how can I be since Jews and Arabs are of the same "race"?

I thought a Jewish person was just one who's mother was a Jew. If a Chinese lady coverts to Judaism and has some Jewish kids with her Irish Catholic husband, the kids sure aren't the same race as an Arab. Not that it matters!
