Interesting topic, but almost irrelevant now. I've been doing IR work for several years, but only been on SI for a few months. IR people MUST be at SI, because it is the #1 chat site for most companies.

The quality of postings is improving, peer pressure is getting rid of the hypesters and idiots, and the very real threat of regulatory lurking forces IR people to be professional on the web.

An IR friend of mine said in one posting he thought his company was undervalued, and he said in 10 minutes he had a call from VSE surveillance telling him that was a no-no. I agree. Put the facts out and let the investors make up their own mind. Hard sells just give the rest of us a bad name.

As soon as our companies have news, I post it to our SI thread (and usually one or two others) immediately.

One issue that I would like to hear about is, (and this applies to mostly junior issues whose stocks are thinly traded and more open to abuse by rumour) should a company put out news, or post at SI, if 1) a rumour, (true or false) is causing the stock to move (up or down), or 2) if they see a blatantly false posting about their company.

Should they set the record straight - do they have a duty to shareholders who are buying the stock up or selling it down unduly, or is it caveat emptor all the way?

I work with Energold Mining Ltd. (EGD) and Redhawk Resources (RDK)
