The point is that Roe makes sense in relation to Griswold. It is an extension of Griswold, but the idea of privacy in Roe had precedence. But Griswold itself invented the idea of a right to privacy that doesn't exist in the constitution directly.

Roe makes sense for those who believe in a "living constitution" where the constitution changes over time and president in earlier decisions is considered as important, or perhaps even more important than what the constitution says. The problem with that idea is that over time all these small gradual changes add up to an end result that is vastly different than the words of the constitution. That may not be a problem for some but it is for me.
