Yesterday my neighbor helped me blow up my bicycle tires with his compressor. As we were walking the bikes back, my other next door neighbor drove out of his driveway in his pickup, stopped, opened his window, handed my other neighbor a plateful of brownies and started talking politics.

One was a Bush supporter (it doesn't matter which) and the other was a Bush hater. The discussion was getting rather heated as I stood there listening. The neighbor finally drove off and we continued walking the bicycles back to my house.

I repeated my oft stated policy: "I never talk politics with friends or family." Actually, that isn't true. I don't talk politics if I know my friends or family disagrees with me.

It keeps the peace. So far, anyway.
