Michael, it looked to me mostly as a smart alecky reply to the racist mayor of New Orleans who said he wants a chocolate city and also a criticism of the do-gooder statist bludgers who want to take from the producers and give to the wastrels.
It also was a derogatory racist generalisation of who the bludgers are.
The problem with chocolate racism is that it wrongly identifies melanin as being the essential ingredient of the problem. People incorrectly think that the melanin-rich are poor. They count the numbers and assume it's linked to melanin.
Melanin is nothing more than skin's reaction to generations breeding in bright sunlight. The pale died from melanoma and other problems. The melanin-rich survived. Melanin has nothing to do with being poor/intelligent/stupid and so on [slavery and the like excluded which of course makes people poor].
If there is a correlation with low intelligence, which there is for some groups of melanin-rich [though not the melanin-rich who work for QUALCOMM], then it's not causal. Correlation doesn't show causation but the unintelligent usually don't understand that.
The simple expedient of finding smart melanin-rich people disproves the theory of melanin as being associated with low intelligence.
The problem [of swarms of hopeless people needing dole] actually comes from people with low intelligence genes, and even that is only part of the explanation, but a much better one than melanin. Emotional development and other brain function genes than intelligence are important too, but an IQ 65 person will always have trouble handling the complex world of today, let alone creating sufficient value to support themselves.
Whether they are melanin-rich or melanin-deficient, an IQ65 person is going to have trouble. An ASTM 8 [which is very sun-resistant] person with an IQ of 160 is not going to have problems, assuming they have average other functions such as legs, emotions, eyes, haemoglobin, hearing, heart etc.
The offensive racism which is commonly accepted these days is about stupid people. Stupid people can't help being stupid. Imagine doing a Dumb and Dumber movie about melanin-rich people instead of stupid people. There would be uproar.
Yet stupid people are made fun of though they are the least able of everyone to handle the situation, which is already dire enough for them as it is without being harassed. Stupid people are a race. It's not exclusively by genetic inadequacy that people are made stupid, but genetics is a major cause. One can also poison infants with lead or mercury, or give them a bad diet, low in iodine, proteins and so on to cause a low IQ. Or, they can be put in a sensory deprivation environment for years, such as a cupboard.
Imagine the uproar if somebody made jokes about melanin-rich people. Or women. Though I have to say women are fair game. Jokes about the arrogant powerful are the best ones and women are arrogantly powerful these days, as well as sexist.
Speaking of which the president of Harvard gave up in the face of rabid racism and fanatical feminism. Women are in fact too stupid to be the best scientists, mathematicians and engineers. It's genetic. They are doomed by their missing Y chromosome. He pointed that fact out and was pilloried.
Which is not to say that a woman couldn't be designed who is the smartest person on the planet, but it would take some selective breeding and genetic tinkering. The current random reassortments very rarely come up with the supersonic women who can be almost the best. That's just a matter of probability.
Unlike women whose problem is linked to their genes [specifically the Y chromosome], melanin-rich people have lower intelligence only because of numbers. In two generations of breeding, melanin-rich people could be made the smartest group of all. Merely stop the bottom 90% from breeding and get the top 10% of women to have 10 children each. Stop the bottom 90% of that second generation from having children and get the top 10% to have 10 children and hey presto, the smartest race on the planet. Maybe not better than the Ashkenazis, but pretty good.
Who says eugenics is no good? In fact, eugenics programmes have always been running. Ask any 18 year old male if they have been specifically rejected as a sex-partner. Yes they have. That's eugenics in action. Women have been conducting eugenics programmes forever.
Males have too, via genocidal tribal conflict, but I guess women have more sway on the outcome.
One can't get smart women by a similar 2 step breeding programme because women and men are inextricably linked. The brains aren't carried in the Y chromosome. They are in the X. The Y just enables the X to do its thing. [It's true that I just made that up then, but it seems like an excellent theory].

PS: ASTM 6 people [quite brown] could also be made the smartest by clipping the melanin DNA into the smartest 5% of humans. That would immediately, in a single generation, make brown people the smartest. Since there's no link of melanin to smartness, that wouldn't cause a problem. |
