But how should things proceed from here?

I've proposed my "solution" many times. Unite the disputed regions into one country, give the appropriate people (probably Israelis and Palestinian refugees) citizenship, and give one man one vote.

Israelis don't have to leave, they can stay right where they are.

Palestinians don't have to leave or fight, they get equality and a country in what they consider to be their homeland.

Everyone is equal. Over the long term, peace gets achieved.

To tell an entire nation that has been recognized by most of the world to just pick up and leave because a large portion of Muslims think they should is ludicrous.

How can the rest of the world have recognized Israel when no one knows where its borders are?

Maybe peace really is in the hands of the Muslims more than it is in the hands of the Israelis.

Sure, if those 1.2 billion people didn't object to Israel, there would probably be no problem. But they do. Thus, there is a problem.
