Hiya Rick,

Look at that. All from your instigation this board has gotten quite popular.

Steamboat was great. We’ve still got kids at home so to be able to spend several days away with my bride is fun and rewarding.

Yup, heading to Utah Thursday night. My son’s 12th birthday is Friday and there’s no school that day so teachers can write report cards or something. And he can skip Monday, so we’ll get 4 days in. Just found out that Snowbird has a new back mountain and is connected to Alta. Snow is slightly different in Utah, maybe drier, but this should be spring skiing. I like exploring new areas.

Hard to leave. Working hard with the City to start a new museum. I never understood how deep and entrenched bureaucracy can be. On another front, I’d be hired by McCormick Place that’s adding half a million more square feet, to take care of all the art acquisitions. I’ve been ragging on them for 5 months to get the contracts to the artists – more bureaucracy. They better go out Monday.

My wife and I just bought a new house, right on the Chicago River, less than two miles from downtown, surrounded by nature, swans, geese, ducks (I keep thinking about you and all those bags of dog food!), canoes and kayaks. I told my wife if we stretched and bought this house I’d live an extra ten years. She said “Let me think about it.” I think love won out.

I guts-balled it. Bought the new house with no contingencies. Just Thursday put our existing home on the market. One couple has been through 3 times already. It would be very sweet if it’d sell within a week. A tad scary. There are homes around here that have been for sale since July.

This whole notion of “staging” a house for sale is new to me – make it neutral like a Marriot Suite so the prospective buyer can visualize themselves in it. We worked really hard at it, taking down all the family photos and personal objects. The good news that it’ll make it easier to leave.

Life’s good. Took me a whole lot longer to get here than anyone else I know. Makes me want to mentor as much as I can. Feels like I’m in the 3rd stage of life: Learn, Earn & Return. Lots of challenges, lots of satisfaction. And I know you know what I mean.

My best to you and yours, and everybody here, and our kids.

Paul
