But similar to Cathlic church the priests who helped jews during WWII is not an excuse for the popes official policy not to help the jews during WWII and to help nazi criminals after WWII. I do not particularly respect Bernadotte whose motivations were purely political. Though he probably did not deserve to be killed... re: that Wallenberg was murdered by the Russians and Bernadotte by the Jews for that there is no excuse for Russian NKVD which killed over 20 million people including Wallenberg but he was not killed for saving Jews. Wallenberg learned about persecutions against jews in 1930's yet did not actively participate until 1944 when the war was virtually over, why? Count Folke Bernadotte did not consider saving victims until last few months of war in 1945, again why? Bernadotte never risked his life to save others he was put in charge of organization (red cross. And his efforts were initiated by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs mostly to mitigate swedish cooperation with nazis in eye of allies. -AK
