Lituya Bay 1958 . Had a pretty big wave. 1700 ft by some accounts .

Somewhere I have a first hand article written by some climbers who had just climbed Mt Fairweather , and came out the day before the quake. As they were flying out they saw 3 fishing boats coming in for the night.

2 of those boats road over a 350 ft island when the first big wave came in in the morning . The third boat never made it. I can not do the story justice nor can I recall who wrote the story or the title of the book.

A little searching and EC may dig it up.

I think it was more of a monster swell and the water sloshed/ran 1700 ft up the mountain side. Cleaned the sides off to bedrock in places and caused a lake to dissapear.
