Just curious, why are you considering a Mac?

Several reasons. The prime one is the timing: my study computer is beginning to make ominous wheezing noises. And I've had it more years than I can count.

As for moving to the Mac, I much prefer the Mac interface. I felt I could learn the innards of the Mac and did; whereas, from the moment I switched to Windows, I've felt alienated from my computer. I suspect that sounds strange, but there it is.

Working on a Windows machine has always just been that; working on a Mac always had a distinct aura, much like listening to music on a first rate audio system.

And, one of the reasons I switched from Macs to Windows was Apple's bad business performance. It looked as if it was not only in a niche market, the market was shrinking. Quickly. Now that is obviously not the case.
