. . . . . A Leader or a Dictator? . . . .

President Bush says he will veto any bill that would stop this highly controversial transaction (UAE company controlling US ports). What is to talk about? In that one seemingly simple act, he has drawn a HARD line with both congress and with the people of the United States. If our ports are considered to be a point of national security and strategic from a military perspective, then why is this act (his veto threat) not treasonous?

"This is what I want and there is nothing you or congress can do about it" is what a dictator says. I would love to see some parallel examples from presidents past, on subjects sensitive to our national security. I venture to say President Bush's act is unprecedented.

Congressmen, in order to save face with their constituents, are scrambling to find middle ground. The one I keep hearing about is a study or investigation. Some want a 3 month investigation by a panel. . . "before moving forward with the plan." . . .thus delaying the inevitable . . . like a spoonful of sugar will do the trick.

The response of every American I have spoken with and certainly most everyone here is. . . FORGET about more discussions. FORGET about an impartial panel. . . FORGET about investigations. . . WE AMERICANS DON'T WANT IT. . . period.

President Bush is out of line on this and needs to admit to the people that he made a mistake. He could say, he thought "it would have been a good plan, but apparently the people of the US are simply not ready". . . . duh, we're not ready to forgive and forget the obvious connections to 9/11 with nations and groups that continually prove they cannot be trusted.

What was all that about "friends of 9/11 are our enemies", President Bush was selling us on to justify war in Iraq? Was he insincere then, or is he insincere now?

Can't have it both ways. Either we are spending our children's future "routing out terrorism and every possible connection, wherever it takes us", or we are out of Iraq and Afghanistan and beginning a new era of friendship with the whole Arab world. So which is it, Mr. President?

I've said before here that I no longer feel my country has my best interests at heart. His veto threat is blatant evidence of our Commander-In-Chief not caring about the will of the people. The people deserve answers to these questions.
